In other words, almost everyone who happens to come across your post, reel, or account will have a look at one or two pieces of your content and quickly assess the answer to the question, “What’s in it for me?” If you are able to pack your posts with such irrefutable value that they cannot ignore it being helpful to them, bingo, you’ve got your follower.

But how do you create content so generous it amazes your audience? Think of your posts as “Value Bombs”—content that not only meets but exceeds expectations. This means crafting messages that are not just informative but transformative. Here’s how you can achieve that:

  • Identify Pain Points: Understand the challenges your audience faces and address them head-on with solutions that work.
  • Offer Actionable Insights: Go beyond surface-level tips and dive into detailed, actionable steps that your audience can immediately implement.
  • Deliver Unexpected Value: Surprise your followers with bonus tips, free resources, or exclusive insights they won’t find elsewhere.

By consistently delivering these “Value Bombs,” you’ll cultivate a loyal following that sees your content as indispensable. Remember, the key is to not only meet the needs of your audience but to truly blow their minds with generosity and insight.

But how do you do this when you are trying to sell your product or service. You simply follow the 80-20 rule. The rule simply says that 80% of your social media content on just about any portal, not just Instagram, should aim to educate or entertain. Yes, that’s a whopping 80%.

And what do you do the remaining 20% of the time? You promote your products and services of course. Blatantly, openly, unabashedly. You’ve earned that right.

Of course, you can always promote your products and services through your link in bios and through cleaver CTAs after or during your entertaining and educating posts as well. But that promotion is always secondary to your essential message.
